My father preceded my mother in death in 1996. They were wonderful parents and grandparents and truly devoted to each other. I was very worried about my mother when my father died, but she was a very strong woman and a very religious woman – I need not have worried. She overcame many illnesses and conditions for many years, always bouncing back much to her doctors’ surprise. I think she just finally wore out. She lived a full and wonderful life for 88 years, and will be greatly missed by her family. She had a wealth of friends, and shortly before her death, her Bridge group came to her house to play. They had been so wonderful to come and visit since a stay in the hospital last winter that left her housebound and bedridden. During the game, my mother had a severe pain and the group wanted to stop. She had a five diamond bid however, and insisted on finishing the hand. Any Bridge player will appreciate that! That is an example of how she lived her life and the type of woman she was.
