The daughter of a railroading family, Mabel Bignell met, fell in love with, and married a terrific man. They met at the University of Nebraska and later taught in the same town. They cherished those early years in western Nebraska and raising their three daughters. But she was happy to return to Lincoln where she had grown up. Their marriage was a partnership that was to last over 50 years. “As I think back over the 53 years of our marriage,” she wrote, “I am ready to admit that life was not always easy or the way we would have liked it to be. But it was a good life; lived for each other and for the girls.” Mother was such a lady, and worked so hard at passing on those qualities to each of us. She is with two of her daughters and her beloved Wes.
