My mother, Lois Girard Roberson, was an elegant, strong, positive woman. She always had a big beautiful smile on her face. She was a living example of God’s love for each of us. When I was a little girl, I would crawl up on her lap or into bed with her. Mom would envelop me with her arms, putting her cheek next to mine, skin on skin, rocking me, sometimes humming always reassuring me that everything was going to be all right. I felt so loved, so special and secure. Even as she got close to her death, I would crawl in bed with her and we would sometimes hum, talk, laugh or just be quiet holding one another. I knew that everything would be all right. Mama and God loved me and taught me well.
