Ozzie was a friend of everyone he met. Growing up in the panhandle of Texas, he was thrilled to move into the mountains of Manitou Springs, CO after his two years in Europe during World War II. He met and married Alice in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1943. Alice remembers that while he as overseas, they had a special time each day when they agreed to think and pray for each other. This time strengthened the love between them that lasted until his death – over 60 years. Their three daughters remember him laughing and making their lives fun. “His love for us was unconditional and never-ending. The security of love like that is priceless.” Once Ozzie’s eight-year-old grandson asked his mother for the meaning of integrity. After she gave him a description, he replied, “Oh, you mean like Grandpa!” Ozzie’s achievements included love of God and family, honesty and loyalty. His presence in this world is missed by all who knew him.
