Adult Grief Support

You don't have to go through this alone.
No one knows exactly what you're feeling, and no one can make your grief go away. It belongs to you alone. But that doesn't mean you have to go through it alone. You've likely heard there are normal stages of grieving, and that's true. For many, it helps to walk through those stages with an experienced guide, or others dealing with loss, or resources to light the way.
Grief Support Groups
Grief support groups are led by professional grief counselors and volunteers. Formats include structured groups that may meet weekly or monthly, as well as informal gatherings. Current grief support groups include:
- Grief Journey – A six week, structured support group offered four times each year
- Child Loss – Meets monthly, as needed
- Women's On-going Group – Meets monthly
- Men's "Un-Group" – An informal men's only get together, led by a volunteer
- Children's Group with Concurrent Parent Education -- Age-appropriate weekly groups for children with separate education for parents and guardians. Adults are required to attend the first hour of every adult group for instruction. The second portion of the adult group is peer grief support, which is optional. Parents and guardians must remain on-site while their children are in session.
Individual Grief Counseling
Short-term supportive and educational grief counseling is available for family and friends who have lost a loved one in our program. In-office appointments are available on a limited basis.
Living With Grief Newsletters
A series of eight newsletters are mailed to families of Pikes Peak Hospice patients throughout the 13 months following the death of their loved one. The newsletters offer comforting information and resources, covering a variety of topics related to the grief journey.
