Remembering those who are still missing

On National POW/MIA Recognition Day, we pause to honor the brave service members who endured captivity as prisoners of war and remember those who remain missing in action.

For the families of those who have not returned home, the passage of time does not erase the questions. It does not diminish the love or the hope. Their loved ones remain part of their lives and part of our nation’s history.

At Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care, a Missing-In-Action Table has been set up in our lobby to mark this solemn day of remembrance. The table serves as a quiet tribute to service members who remain missing and to the families who continue to wait.

The iconic black-and-white POW/MIA flag carries a simple but powerful message: They Are Not Forgotten.

Today, we remember the service members who sacrificed for our freedom. We honor those who endured captivity. And we hold in our thoughts the families who have lived with the uncertainty of not knowing what became of someone they love.

Their service, their sacrifice and their stories matter.

They are not forgotten.
